Composition: Chloramphenicol 5% w/v, Clotrimazole 1% w/v, Beclomethasone dipropionate 0.025% w/v and Lignocaine 2% w/v in Glycerine and Propylene glycol base

Chloramphenicol is a bacteriostatic antibiotic originally derived from the bacterium Streptomyces venezuelae . Chloramphenicol is bacteriostatic (that is, it stops bacterial growth) by inhibiting the enzyme peptidyl transferase , which inhibits ribosomal activity and protein synthesis by preventing the binding of amino acyl-tRNA to the A site on the 50S subunit

Clotrimazole, an antifungal agent kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by stopping the fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in production of ergosterol disrupts the cell membrane and causes holes to appear. The cell membranes of fungi are vital for their survival. They keep unwanted substances from entering the cells and stop the contents of the cells from leaking out. As clotrimazole causes holes to appear in the cell membranes, essential constituents of the fungal cells can leak out. This kills the fungi.

Beclomethasone is an anti- inflammatory , synthetic glucocorticoid . It is used topically as an anti-inflammatory agent
Lignocaine is a common local anesthetic. Lignocaine alters depolarization in neurons, by blocking the fast sodium (Na+) channels in the cell membrane. With sufficient blockade, the membrane will not depolarise and so not transmit an action potential, leading to its anesthetic effects.

Otomycosis, Otitis externa, Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM), Acute otitis media, Fulminating fungal / bacterial infections following mastoid surgery, allergy and mechanical injury
