The Syndromic Approach To Treat Vaginal Discharge Syndrome & STIs

Composition: Each single day Kit contains Azithromycin 1gm + Fluconazole 150 mg + Secnidazole 2 gm

Azithromycin is an azalide , a subclass of macrolide antibiotics . It is derived from erythromycin ; however, it differs chemically from erythromycin in that a methyl -substituted nitrogen atom is incorporated into the lactone ring , thus making the lactone ring 15-membered. Azithromycin prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their protein synthesis . It is active against gram negative pathogens such as Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxelln catarrhalis, Chlamydia trachomatis and some opportunistic mycobacteria.

Secnidazole is a 5 nitroimidazole derivative. It interacts with the DNA in the organism and produce cell death. It is used in the treatment of protozoal infections and bacterial vaginosis viz. Gardnerella vaginalis and anaerobes

Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal drug which in sensitive fungi inhibits cytochrome  P 450 dependent enzymes resulting in impairment of ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes. It is active against Blastomyces dermatitidis, Candida spp., Coccidioides immitis, Cryptococcus neoformans, Epidermophyton spp., Histoplasma capsulatum, Microsporum spp., & Trichophyton spp.

Candidiasis, Gonorrhoea, Chlamydial infection, Trichomoniasis and Bacterial vaginosis.
